Nice!

I got confused and it’s the Lintons I’ve gone for. It was the ‘Super Denton’ I was comparing them with but they’re smaller.

Great to hear you’re happy with them, I’m excited to get mine set up. Sounds like we’ve got similar music tastes. I notice you didn’t go with the stands. I can’t decide if I like the stands or not but I’m struggling to find anything nicer and they’re only £100 extra if you buy them with the speakers.

Side note, I’ve also got that Tokyo Jazz Joints book next to my hifi! Great little book!

HarveyMushman wow eagle eyes - there are updated versions of the lintons just out but they are a chunk more change.

I have the stands they are upstairs as a inpromptu pc stand in my sons room - i would have used them but not much space in the room for them.

Love the japan based jazz/bar cafes - i have a bunch of the magazines which are the same great shots of various places round Japan - i am not a huge jazz fan (least not hard bepop etc) but would love to visit some of them !

The Linton arrived this week. Absolutely blown away! Put about 20 hours listening in already and they’re exactly what I was looking for.

Big sound, decent warmth. Also the level of finish on them is fantastic.

Given your thoughts on the Project phono stage, have you got any experience with the Project amplifiers?

I’m moving the speakers I replaced with the Lintons to my office and want a small amp to put on my desk, Project make a couple that look ideal but I’ve not used any of their products.

      It’s only for digital sources.

Hey @HarveyMushman! Good question. I haven’t used them or heard them myself (I used to work in high end audio/AV many moons ago before a career change), but their phono stages are very good. I’m rather out of the game now, but may still be able to offer some advice. What sort of budget did you have in mind? Does it need to meet a specific form factor or listening requirements?

        Ok good to know thanks!

Budget is probably £750 tops as it’s just for listening at my desk and the speakers are small (B&W 685).

Form factor is important as I’d ideally like to mount it ‘below’ my desk in an under-desk bracket. With that said, width/height ideally wants to be fairly small but depth can be whatever.

        2 inputs minimum.

Ah cool! You’ve got a decent budget and not many ‘needs’, which makes things easier. It kind of depends on what your preferred ‘sound’ is like of course, however I always like to base my amplification on whatever has been used to voice the speakers during testing. Now interestingly, B&W (at least the 600 series) were historically voiced with Rotel amps, which are a really nice choice for your application I would suggest. Not too expensive, something relatively slim. Honestly I’d give something like the A8 a listen and see how it pairs with your B&Ws, at only £400 it might do everything you need and save you a bit of money.
