Tjyven I’m a 100% straight espresso drinker so steaming is not important and I have still have my E61 machine with steaming capabilities and I use that when guests are here (it is also faster to pump out back to back drinks than the Stietman).

That said, the most important thing for me in a Lever (after having a few) is group head temperature stability. For example, I like my Falir Signature Pro that I use for travel maybe four time a year but I would not want it for my home machine because flaffing around getting the group head to the right temperature is a bit of pain. Likewise the Portapresso I own. I am not a fan of the La Pavoni that I owned either because even thought the group head was heated the temperature was anything but stable, I really had to get it at the right time or manipultate it. And thats what I would be careful about if ordering a cheaper copy of the Strietman. I buy a lot from AliExpress so I’m not against cheaper Chinese copies as such, it’s just that when it comes to espresso machines “it’s complicated” as they say, to get so many important factors such as group head temperature accuracy and stability spot on.

tompoland I totally agree with you, having right temperature is essential. Also been using La Pavoni and even though I really like those machines getting right temperature is not easy.. However, I do think this “Chinese Strietman” is better than you probably think, even though there arent much information about it I know it is not some mass produced copy, it is actually one person who builds these machines by hand and it has a PID and I do think it is very temperature stable. As I said it is difficult to get information but Brian Quan has made a video:

I did not mean to hijack this Nurri thread and maybe this should be moved to a new thread.

tompoland Yes thanks, I have seen that post and even though there doesnt seem to many users the guy who has one seems to be satisfied.

Viernes The Nurri also responds well to keep stable the desired temperature. At least in my experience

If you mean stable throughout the shot (as opposed to between shots), I thought one of the advantages of a traditional spring lever machine was meant to be that the brew water temperature (as well as the piston pressure) declined throughout the shot.

          Suppose it depends

There’s the declining pressure profile and then there’s the temp declining too, I know this can go as much as 4-5 degrees swing.

Where and when, did declining brew water temperature come from?

DavecUK It comes from the fact that on large spring leavers, the big group acts as a heat sink. As a matter of taste preference, I’ve often seen it praised.

On another forum, John Buckman of Decent espresso machines, recently said: ’The “Adaptive” profile that is my daily … does this temperature drop as part of the program. It’s currently the “most popular profile” on https://visualizer.coffee/ I have it set to drop 5C on my profile, but you can set it to be whatever you like.'

Asked what he thinks is the advantage of a temperature declining profile, he replied: ’I’d say the taste is “smoother, less harshness”.'

Obviously, the phenomenon is not recent, as it happens automatically in lever machines that don’t have something like cartridge heaters to keep the group temperature in balance with the brew water in the cylinder.

As to when it was positively credited with helping to give lever shots their characteristic flavour, I feel as though I read it first many years ago (but I couldn’t say where).

I know where Dave is coming from because big levers have been praised for their temp stability….

I like it to this new Weber portafilter that seems to channel. App visual channeling on the bottom of baskets is a good thing now

Probably on CFUK back in 2012/13

tompoland hello tompoland, have you or any of the other people on this thread who ordered the nurri l-type received their units yet? As a fan of LSM type spring levers (of which there are never enough of), I am eager to hear how your experiences have been like with this very interesting machine.

chlorox hi there I have not received the Nurra Leva SA yet. It was scheduled to ship from Italy to Australia at the end of July but that has been pushed back to the end of September now due a part not being delivered ot the Nurri factory in time.

There are others who have received their units and one on this forum in particular offered a lot of comments and of course our illustrious Espresso Leader Extraordinairre @DavecUK has a prototype on his bench.

Early reports are undoubtedly colored via the honeymoon effect but nevertheless positive comments abound. I’ll be sure and post a pic and a comment or two here once she is on my espresso bench. I’m thinking Christmas present from santa?

That’s a shame on the delay, it’s happening alot atm,

I had an early production model, but I returned that months ago, as soon as I finished the engineering review.

I don’t know how much of what I recommended will be changed, or implemented.

The same with the GTO, I returned it as soon as the engineering review was completed.

Got it. Thanks for the update. In that case I hope to be able to report in and confirm that Antoni adopted your recommendations.
