MediumRoastSteam n terms of import taxes, given the burrs are made in the EU, should they charge any other import duties other than VAT at 20% for the UK?
I haven’t checked or imported anything from the EU since he UK left the single market, so I’m curious to know how rules are being applied.
Very messy area!
- If the seller is VAT registered, he/she must remove the VAT and declare that on the invoice. The VAT is then chargeable at our port of entry.
- If not VAT registered, the VAT is / may be applicable at our customs beyond a limit.
- If the seller doesn’t remove the VAT, we shouldn’t be paying the VAT. But, there may have been instances of the VAT notice. Jake did get a VAT notice. I don’t know if he also paid the same at the origin of supply
There is also a complex rules of origin complicating the matter.

The import duty isn’t a lot. I think it will be about 3% - 5%
