@LMSC Yeah I agree, they’d do well to release a consumer version of LR at a lower price/free.

I’m a designer so get the full Creative Suite (even though I use like 4 apps from it) and actually much prefer the subscription to the ‘good old days’ when you’d have to buy the Master Collection for four figure prices every year. Adobe used to be really hot on raiding commercial studios using cracked versions too.

Piracy is probably one of the reasons they moved to the current model.

However for individuals, £10-12 a month for Lightroom is a bit rich. Their photography plan is reasonably good value though with LR and PS bundled with storage for a tenner a month.

I have to say periodic subscriptions have made creative software a lot more accessible. Things like Cinema4D you’d have to pay thousands for even if you just needed it for one project, whereas now you can just subscribe for a month and drop it.

Ernie1 Subscription makes a lot of sense for professional use. One doesn’t have to deal with outdated versions.

Dug my old laptop out the loft or may still have ps on it. 😂need a power brick now

Cuprajake Question is back in the day I had a ‘copy’ of photoshop, but now have no clue what to use for editing.

    Is there a free software?

I now use Darktable, it’s free and open source. It does take a bit of getting used to after Lightroom and PS, but there are some excellent tutorials on Youtube. I find it to be a very powerful editing tool, especially for RAW files, now that I know my way around it!

Oooohh thank you I’ll have a look too

Cuprajake I have just dug my Nikon D300s out and went on a weekend course with a guy up here in Yorkshire. Steve bell photography. I have just purchased Serif Affinity 2 photo which seems ok. Just need to learn how to use it.

      I had a d300s good camera

        New lens has come,

Annoyingly the lens caps missing but it does have a UV filter fitted, only an Amazon basics so may replace with a Hoya

I’ve recently fell in love with this guys youtube channel, the way he constructs his videos around reviewing products in that old Japanese Bladerunner/Cyberpunk style is awesome.

Definitely worth a look for a new take on a typical ‘review’ format video

i used to watch a guy called james beltz - very good he was too, but he wiped his youtube channel and all his vids are just on vimeo now

Cuprajake Highly recommend Peter Mckinnon too, his video’s aren’t always photography focused but there’s some cool inspiration to be had with their styling and product photography & landscapes!

I literally have a camera with a 50mm lens on at all points for work stuff, super versatile and makes for easy good shots!

Ernie1 Anytime! - I’m a big fan of that Japanese Anime/Cyber asthetic, Ghost in the Shell vibes in all his videos. Super cool visuals…now just how to tie it into a coffee video 🤔 😂
