Autumn coming early.
Snikom It’s raw data it couldn’t be more usable, but yes you would have to stick in a spreadsheet or similar.
Sure but you know what I mean. If reports of hottest June were actually supplied with some qualifying statement, things would be far better for the ordinary person who doesn’t want to load and process a load of raw data into excel…which they don’t make easy.
There are two ways to obfuscate, either provide little or no data, that’s deceptive, or to overwhelm with raw data.
I know for a fact I’ve not needed the aircon at all so far this year….which means it’s considerably cooler than last year.
But they did report it and reputable scientists have confirmed this. You and others in this thread have implied you don’t believe that, so your options are look at raw data or to talk about feelings and personal anecdotes which is poor data.
Someone asked where they could find the historic temperatures and I supplied that information for UK weather stations.
Because the reputable scientist did so well last time we trusted them…..oh wait there all resigning now….
Anyway I can see the way this tread is going so I’m hoping out
There’s way to much for and against climate change, we knew this was the next big thing after covid, and then digital currency. New world order all,
Peace out, And may the odds be ever in your favour

Nope take everything with a pinch of salt, but I certainly don’t take everything our government and media say at face value, Joe public certainly ain’t Thier first priority that’s for sure.
I was never a cynic but these last few yrs have been pretty mental
Before Brexit, we had a complete woof bark come in work, full on lizards walking among us, cloud seeding etc so I asked him if the powers that be would lenus Brexit, which I didn’t think would happen
His reply.
Yeah we will leave, they will segregate us as an island, then they will push the public to depression and breaking point and then ww3 will happen,
eerie indiana but so far he’s 2 for 2….
For me personally as the little work bee I am, theres pretty much nothing I can do to change or afford to change that will impact the environment, I don’t fly, do 5k per yr in my car, don’t eat meat lol oh and I recycle. 😂
I say all this, while it’s currently pouring down and is 16 degrees. It’s actually rained all week haha

Such discussions should continue. We are all pals on this forum ad there is no reason why we cannot have a passionate discussion encompassing all sides of the debate. Nobody will ever be proved right or wrong so where is the harm? So far, I do not think many of the climate claims for the future have stacked up or happened, but if we wait ,long enough, one of the pigeons must come home! Not much talk of the 40 degree day this year. Why? The same runways exist with the same amount of jet traffic, but this summer despite the claim, is nowhere near as hot as last summer. I too, have full air con in my bungalow. There were many days and nights last year, that we would have traded anything for air con. This year, having it, I have not had to use it once. that might not be scientific, but it is the accurate truth

dfk41 Thanks for this, we need you to provide us with the accurate truth. Just wish all these Europeans would stop complaining that it is too hot. They had a few Italians on the telly earlier claiming it was well into the 40’s where they were and getting hotter, and a few Spaniards and French claiming the same. Glad to hear that this is just more made up nonsense and it’s actually cooler than last year.
Gagaryn Interesting. So, Dave and I are lying then, whilst the climate change loons are definitely not. I mean, 40 degrees last year, on a runway covered in black tarmac surrounded by jet planes. I mean, who would have thought. I am not disputing that Europe (as a fantastically large land mass) has high temperatures this summer. What I am saying is that we are not. We are experiencing a ‘norma’ British summer, if there is such a thing. How can this be though Gargaryn if we have damaged the earths fragile system? Has it repaired itself whilst hovering over Great Britain?

Not worth it guys agree to disagree

Cuprajake If I agreed with Gargaryn, he would still disagree with me agreeing……LOL
Gagaryn Perhaps we are both members of opposing parties. It is impossible for either side to be proven right, or wrong. We will either be dead and therefore not aware, or we will not be dead…….difference is, being a loon, I do not live in fear of something that is no nearer actually happening that when these predictions first started happening. Sure the climate changes. Look out of the window. But if climate change is behind the heatwave of last year in the UK, what has happened this year and why?
And @Cuprajake…….it is quite possible to argue/debate without falling out. It is just healthy conversation
Even if human activity is changing our climate….there is absolutely nothing we in the UK can do about it. So it’s completely pointless worrying about it.
I do not know one way or the other except……
The stuff I see of the polar caps and the melting ice and massive reduction of the ice shelfs. Is that down to the planet’s climate rising and if so, is it humans causing it? I haven’t got a scooby. Are those facts true? is it only in the last 60 years or so this has been happening or is it a cycical thing that regardless of what we do, it is something the earth goes through as a matter of course every so many hundred or thousands of years?
My logical (or illogical probably) brain says, if there is now more of a particular harmful substance, which granted has also in the past been emitted naturally (volcanos and the like) being pumped into the air, there is going to be an effect of some sort. Now, it is possible that before, the natural emission of this substance was counteracted by the planet by having huge areas of forestation to cope with it. But, because of the actions of humans those forests has and continues to be reduced dramatically, thus reducing the planet’s ability to adjust a bit like a young persons lungs against an old person with emphysema. So, the question is, does that inability lead to the average temperature of the earth rising and if so effect the weather patterns too? I’m buggered if I know, but again my logic says probably. As for the heat waves hitting areas or not as the case may be, maybe this rise in temperature also effects jet streams and how the scoot around the planet…I don’t know.
We cannot deny that what humans are doing on this planet must have some effect. Just look at what platsic waste and waste in general are doing or the dumping of raw sewage killing rivers.
All I do know is that the unfortunate thing about most humans be they individuals or governments or massive companies, most have a ‘live for today and sod tomorrow’ attitude. We have for the most part forgotten how to live with nature and because of our prolification, want or need to tame it and that never ends well. We look at people like amazonian tribes or the old American indigenous tribes and think them backwards, but they managed the natural resources didn’t destroy them. It is a myth that they hunted species to exctinction. Only modern man has killed species to exctinction…The Dodo being just one example.
The trouble with modern humans is that we invent and make wonderful things, many of which make our lives easier more comfortable, but in making these things we never considered what happens to them when they become useless or obsolete and have to be thrown away.
So, in conclusion there is only one thing I do know and cannot be sensibly or scientifically disputed….the earth is not flat!
