Lets kick off with some beautiful measuring equipment and it’s even coffee related for some projects I’m doing. Micrometer (1 micron), depth gauge (1 micron) and calipers (10 micron). A pleasure to use, especially the callipers as my other set are Mitutoyo, but 60 years old (my dads) and in thou.
With the new image function, to see a larger image, right click, open in a new tab and you can zoom in and see it full size. with much higher resolution.
My monthly subscription from Penningtons of Kendal arrived today; Christmas blend!
I also got some Christmas blend today! Hope I’ve loaded the pic correctly??

Elcarajillo Looks good Frank, especially like the PID, much better than the old one…you going to keep the longer legs :😉
And Gagaryn at least it isn’t a Vesuvius Evo?
Yup, It appears to have completed the journey with no ill treatment - no boot prints and no damage. It’s now flushed, and working. I’ve only had one shot so far using one of the pre-programmed profiles and it was surprisingly ok for a first attempt, considering the grind was a guess and I hadn’t even checked what the profile was before I pulled it! From memory it was a 10 sec PI, ramp to 10 bar then a few steps of decreasing pressure. Will probably be Friday before I get some proper time to experiment. I’ve got a lot to learn. So far I have learned how to switch off the service boiler and switch from Italiano to Inglese. Not necessarily in that order.
Definitely looks better and the temperature is consistent now.
You were correct about the offset @16 it was still flashing off to steam at brew temp 93, trying 12 now.
@ 6′ -1′' it is a long way down , I shall stick with the long legs but I am looking for some chrome tube of the correct diameter to replace them. Had to adjust the expansion valve tonight, beginning to weep when brewing
9 bar.
Elcarajillo be careful though, with coffee the flow rate is well down compared to flushing through and empty group. This gives the E61 more time to cool the water. What flashes when it rushes out fast, is usually at a lower temp when bought out slowly and moderated by the group….which is always around 80 ish degrees near the PF!
A replacement bottle for my wife’s lava lamp that I bought her 14 years ago. Still going strong, but the purple had eventually faded to clear.
The blub in mine has gone, I tried an oven bulb…but that didn’t work…I do need to get the right type of reflector blub.
