        Really? My dealer was going to talk to Antonio about such a machine but I didn’t hold much hope. Did you see any details of it online or hear of it straight from Antonio?

        Or are you going to tell me it’s just a normal Nurri without the pump installed, with disconnected pipes,😃

                That may require some clarification for dummies like me.

                The temperate of group head, water and steam boilers are changed on that panel/display.

                So “PIDs settings” refers to something else. Keen to learn more.

                    tompoland PID stands for proportional integral derivative. It’s the control algorithm that is used to keep the temp where you want it. Being able to change the values for the P, I and D terms changes how it behaves, which can be good or bad depending on how well it was setup initially

                      It’s a way of designing a (temperature - but it could be any other variable) process controller so that the output of the controller is a function of the instant error [i.e. proportional to Current Value - Target], of the error’s derivative [i.e. is the error expected to increase or decrease in the future based on its ‘instant trend’] and the error’s integral [i.e. has the error been increasing or decreasing over a certain time period in the past]. If properly calibrated, it’s significantly better at keeping a process ‘on track’ than a simple ‘on-off’ switch based on whether the Current Value is above or below the Target.

                      Note that there are at least 4 parameters that define a PID’s setup: the target for the variable under control, and constants for the Proportional, Integral and Derivative ‘parts’ of the error measurement. When @DavecUK says “you can’t adjust the PID settings” he is referring to the parameters other than the target (temperature in the most common case for a coffee machine). These can be important as they may need to be significantly different to provide stable and accurate control from system to system.

                      If you want the theory, history and maths, this Wikipedia article has probably more than you want to know; if you have any specific questions, do ask!

                        The manual does list out the pid default parameters and the valori delta values but it does not explain how to change them if desired.

                        Just in from the Nurri Facebook Group page … may be a timely addition to the thread. No idea about the legitimacy of this announcement or how one would go about a software upgrade unless it is only for new machines.

                        Good news!!! The L-TYPE is going to receive a PID software upgrade. This will enable independent PID control parameters over the 3 probes for fine temperature tuning.

                          Yes it will, or at least that was my understanding. Not sure how the patch can be downloaded onto the machine though - maybe the dealer will do it? Best ask Antonio…

                              As well, Nurri is working on doing a retrofit for the port at the back of the machine that the user can use a screwdriver to control the pump with. This was a change that came a s a result of my suggestions to him on an easier way to control the pump than fiddling with a screwdriver. He is going to replace it with a control dial. It is still in the process.
