I think this has run its course 🤫 .The great reveal🎤.
It is for refacing the valve seating face on engine valves .Underside of valve facing the cutter being moved forward by the fine thread, whilst the valve is rotated by a handle clamped on the valve stem.
I am sure it would not work on the modern very hard valves.
Would you like another one ?? as Pompey-x says. I will get my coat😉
Must admit, after almost 50 years in the motor trade I’ve never seen one of those before. I used a lathe, or even just a pillar drill with a file and whet stone!
Elcarajillo Would you like another one ??
I’m up for another.
I think this has run it’s course now. The great reveal🎤🤫
It is for recutting the valve face seal for engine valves.
The valve is held in the jaws and moved forward with the fine screw thread against the cutter. It is then rotated by the handle clamped to the valve stem until a smooth shiny seat is formed. It sounds quite ‘agricultural’ but I can assure you it works. Think. BMC, Ford and earlier vehicles.
I am sure it would not work on moder very hard engine valves.
Would you like another one ?? NO. as Pompey– says. I will get my coat.😁
Flat_Eric It is the only one I have seen, there are a couple of similar items on the I/net but not the same.
Believe it or not, I was actually wondering whether it was for refacing valves the other day. Unfortunately, I didn’t commit my wondering to type.

Oh yes another one please! It’s one of the few threads I can get involved in without being the only one looking like a Tw*t!
Elcarajillo ah yes I thought so all along 😜
Elcarajillo Would you like another one
“Elcarajillo”#p4756
For blowing a variety of different sized bubbles by waving about ??
Baldrick It is a Danish dough whisk to be precise. Well that didn’t last long did it 🤣
😂 sorry. I am looking forward to Elcarajillo bubble spectacular on Britains got talent though.
Wow that was a quick resolution! I was imagining something to do with woolen yarn or crochet or something. Doesn’t look substantial enough to deal with dough, but I stand corrected!
A reusable bottle stopper ?
