Not right this very second, but I'm listening to a lot of TOOL and Pusifer recently. My stereo is currently in storage, so SONOS or phone mainly unless I'm in the car.

Apple music’s today’s hits and recent releases are my typical go to play lists. The last recent release album I listened was 30 by Adele. Elvis’s and Beatles are my all time favourites.

I like all music, the problem is after autotune became increasingly prevalent after the mid 90s, I found myself listening to les and less…I couldn't initially work out why, then I discovered autotune and then Melodyne, There has been pitch correction for a very long time, right back to the tape and splice days with multiple takes…this isn 't a problem. Autotune is a massive problem as is hand dragged pure digital pitch correction. It changes the voice, looses all human character, and they all sound like singing Kazoos. If it isn't autotuned…I'll listen to it, I'm pragmatic. Just the same as when I go to buy a pair of Trainers, or shoes…I don't ask to look at various styles…I ask the shop assistant, what trainers have you got in size 12…they give me a puzzled look as if im an idiot, but come back with 2 or 3 pairs of trainers, which are the only 3 styles in size 12. What's getting really irritating is the production companies, in their "wisdom", have gone back and autotuned Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Simon and garfunkle etc.. to make it "better". I'm quite passionate about the companies stopping using it….as they are robbing generations of appreciating how voices can, and should sound. This week I've mainly been listening to Leonard Cohen - Song's of Love and Hate, Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanangan - Ballad Of The Broken Seas and Amy Winehouse At The BBC - all recent purchases (albeit third copy of the Cohen album!), interspersed with BBC 6 Music. I'm old fashioned, still listen almost entirely on vinyl and still buying it. I'm really interested in music and always have been, dabbled in recording and production for years, not so much now but still interested in it. Still play guitar, electric and acoustic. The discussion on the sound of a lot of modern popular recordings is interesting - it's not to my taste either. It's fashion though - that sound is what is popular now. Production is constantly changing as engineers and musicians use the latest developments available to them - been that way since recording started. That Cher song Believe, was the first big song to use Auto-Tune - and use it in a way that it was not designed to be used. It was initially intended to be a subtle correction tool but she cranked it to 11 for that robot voice sound and started a fashion. My other big gripe with modern music is that it generally lacks dynamics, what people sometimes refer to as the loudness wars. I think this is due to how people consume music now. When I was a teenager, getting your first "separates system" was a right of passage. Hi-Fi was a thing. And you listened to physical albums. Now people listen on streaming services through cheap earbuds or tinny bluetooth speakers. Artists (and record companies) no longer make money on sales, them make them on streamed "listens" - and without an immediate punch and catchy gimmick it's very easy for the listener to simply skip to the next song. So everything gets "louder" to attract attention. Recording even has a new measurement to cater for this need - the LUT, which is basically a measure of loudness. You should add that to your hate list alongside overt use of Auto-Tune. I'm less upset about Melodyne though as it is generally used as a subtle production tool rather than an effect; when used well it should be transparent and can make a good recording of a great voice even better. I do enjoy the imperfections in older recordings though.

Just watched the first4 of the new Ozark….Chuffin hell it’s good!

Only thing is, have they given the ending away at the beginning and the final series is about how it got there?

I’ve got to admit the Americans do this sort of thing very well, because thinking about it some of my favoutite series have been as Bruce would say… Born in the USA!

Ozark, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, You, Penny Dreadful, American Horror Story, and the one probably top of my list… Banshee, to name but a few.

I quite agree, another question is have they got enough toilet paper in a crisis, if so how did they get it once people started panic buying?

The cone/tweeter struggle is real.

I’ve got two pairs of B&W 685 (which as a side note are incredibly good speakers that can be had for relatively low cost second-hand) and had to replace the tweeter twice during house moves.

Despite being packaged in boxes and wrapped in all manner of protective material still got dented.

As for what I’m listening to; Magnolia Electric Co by Songs:Ohia. Also Honest Life by Courtney Marie Andrews. They both sound incredibly good on vinyl and should be accessible enough for most music fans!

I watched this last night. Saw the bus fight scene and realised it needed a watch, if you don’t like violence, humour and swearing, obviously don’t click the link. I think this film may have gone under the radar for me. This particular clip is a mix of Kingsman, John Wick and stuff i’ve never seen before.

I thought it made up the bulk of the movie and nothing else of substance…but no….it was a good film and an enjoyable watch, if you liked John Wick, you will surely like this.

I watched d Ozark series 4. Thought the end did not really tell the story, only to learn that series 4 is being released in 2 blocks of 7 with the concluding 7 coming later in the year!

Saw that film Dave when it came out just because I like the actor who also plays Sol in ‘Better Call Sol’ which was a spin off from Breaking Bad and is excellent too.

Thought it was as good as any other film of its type and that bus fight scene is one of the best fight scenes like it.

Talking of Kingsman, I’m off to the flicks this week to watch ’The King’s Man’ which is a sort of prequel to the two kingsman films which I loved.

Just finished Series 4 part 1 of Ozark. They’ve done the same as Breaking Bad did for the final series they have split it into two the first 7 episodes in part one and the rest later on in the year. Boy it is good, and left it on a cliffhanger with potty mouthed Ruth really really losing her S**t!

Well I’m re-watching a few things: Casa de Papel (money heist), Ozark, and Dexter. Then music: I usuually listen to a lot of Keith Jarrett, Bill Frisell, Haydn string quartets I’m very fond of, yesterday I listened to a lot of Temples and Roon suggested related bands courtesy of Tidal, but most days there’s always time for some Grateful Dead, in fact I think that’s what I’m going for now :-)

I checked the audit log…I installed a logger temporarily to see if there really was a bug with posts getting deleted. This is what is says for you. Since it was installed

The only deleted post was one of my own as part of testing 2 days ago.

I know this a bit off piste, but I’ve noticed there are a lot of documentaries on Sky about UFO’s and Aliens especially since the release of the footage from pilots from the aircraft carrier Nimitz which the Pentagon has seemingly acknowledged rather than trying to deny.

So, you bunch of level headed, scientific, evidence based, caffeine addicts…have we/are we being visited? is it Nanu Nanu or just a load of old Shazbats?

Me? I go by odds and according to best guestimates, there are over 200 billion trillion stars out there, which means there are even more planets circling them. So what are the odds considering our planet is not as old as many and we humans have only been here in a nano blink of an eye…pretty good I recon.
