This is my current setup. Nothing too flashy at the moment because I've just moved house. I use the Baratza Encore with my Aeropress and the Specialita is for the Europiccola. [upl-image-preview url=//i.imgur.com/SsJrbWk.jpeg] My selection of gear at the moment: Bezzera BZ10 Compak K3 Touch grinder Cafelat Robot Kinu M47 manual grinder Fiorenzato F64Evo grinder The F64Evo is a speed demon that grinds 17 grams in some 4.5 to 5 seconds. I like it a lot, but it seems to produce a fair amount of fines. At the end of every shot, with the brew pressure being released, some fines seem to slip through the shower screen and eventually plug up the pulse line to the brew pressure gauge. This didn't happen with other grinders I had used (K3, Macap M2) I recently had the machine serviced and the pressure gauge "unplugged" and for now I resorted to my K3, which I hadn't sold yet. The Kinu provides the highest level of flavor clarity, but I tend to use it mostly on vacations with the Robot. Boy, are they a pair 😄 !

Espresso Machine: ECM Puristika Current Portafilter: ECM Bottomless Gran Crema Grinder: Niche Zero (for espresso) Grinder: Wilfa Svart (for Aeropress) Favourite Bean At The Moment: Artisan Whisky Thief (very boozy, delicious espresso, not that great with the Aeropress in my opinion) Things To Get: A better scale, a distribution tool and a tamping station Really getting along nicely with the Puristika. A bit of a learning curve initially as it is my first espresso machine, but lately I am enjoying the results and learning a lot with fine tuning my tamping with the bottomless portafiler. The Niche Zero is also performing very well (far more consistent grinds than my previous grinder) and dialling in has been fairly straight forward.

@"Beverast"#p717 A big favour if you can…**are you able to scan the relevant pages of the user guide… for PID usage and options.** All the other stuff about portafilters and pressures I don't need, although **it would be useful to see the warnings about use of the right hand knob.** I have not used my Puristika for well over 1 year. I had the PID settings right, but of course never had a manual and can't remember how to operate the PID. I don't accidentally want to lose what I found were ideal settings. I did do some modifications on mine and might share the PID settings if people are interested. *P.S. You could even photograph them*

Thanks for the tip 🙂 Mine my be a little different as it's a prototype produced in 2019. However, I am sure my settings and probably the modification I made is still relevant.

A couple of Ceado grinders; the big E92 conical for single dosing fitted with a ‘blow up’ bellows, the E37s for churning out my ‘house’ bean. A Pulman Big Step tamper, which is being used with a 20g ridgeless VST. Made a huge improvement to my prep game. The GS3 replaced a La Spaziale mini Vivaldi which was a great little dual boiler, but did suffer a little from temperature stability issues. Firmware on the Evo is upgradeable, if an upgrade is made…this is via a port that’s helpfully on the RHS of the display. This means one cannot remove the lid and simply plug in a USB/C key or adaptor cable!

With a thin RH angle adaptor cable, then one could simply grab the interior end and plug said USB stick into it. I think it’s Micro USB, can’t remember offhand. so something like this

It’s a hand me down from my grandparents, any drop of water does leave a mark ( hence the table mats on the left) but it wasn’t perfect when I got it. A little oiling helps. Nothing has come out of the bottom, yet!

I was going to install a more kitchen like bar but I really like the look and it works as a coffee/drinks bar.

Here’s my current set-up, a bit cluttered but not had time to sort it. Ignore the Sage Nespresso machine, it’s only for emergencies 😅. La Pavoni Pro with a temp sensor on group head. Right side is my Frankenstein Mazzer SJ… Removed the doser and changed wiring to make it turn on with the switch. I made the cover and funnel from sheet aluminium and bent it to shape with my hands 💪. There’s a little cap that I pop over the funnel when in use, and I pop it off to get all grounds out. Bellows on top to push everything out to ~0.1g retention.

I thought that posting a pic here would be a good motivator for cleaning the setup, so here we are. I am that person to use a stock Mazzer Major at home for single dosing 😱 I am in the honeymoon with that grinder and I’ll probably get a David Wong mod.

mazzer major is a great grinder if you have the space

beautifully made product, and well packaged, i just decided id rather use the oe funnel, i now grind, brush and a final puls gets everything out,

i dont drink really dark, but yeah it had been fine for all these, i dont do oily beans though, if i get oily beans i bin them

Cuprajake are you interested to sell the mod? Unfortunately I don’t have a funnel on my Major, I have a cylindrical doser which is really a pita to brush so I would rather try the mod than stay with that.

Single dosing for Mazzers are a bit annoying with brushing and blowing etc. still good if you have a small budget. The Danial Wong mod was too expensive for me so I just made my own for essentially nothing as I had spare metal lying around. Honestly I would rather just have the Mazzer mini doser funnel thing rather than the other mods, mainly because mods like Danial Wongs are still quite messy. It’s easier to just brush the inside of the funnel and have a clean surface.

Petre What is ideal is Cuprajake second image with that funnel. I think only the mini has it? Not sure though. Some people made a similar mod for the SJ and Major by buying a funnel.

My design is really easy to make. My inspiration was origami, but with metal instead. The funnel is actually just one piece of metal folded. But my first design still needs improvement (no time to improve atm sadly). It can be made with just aluminium sheets, some metal sheers, a drill, and something to bend against (like a table edge or ideally a vice) and probably cost a few quid to make and maybe 2 hours.
