Definitely will, it’s great to watch all this and being able refer back when the need arises. Especially with my memory.
Cuprajake just had a coffee with that profile, it’s great. I’m using a dark roast however, and stopping at 27/29gm, so my shot is 8 sec at 2 bar pi and all the rest at 9 bar as I’m getting the 27/29gm at around 27 sec. It’s perfect for this bean stopping at that time so I won’t bother messing with grind. I’m moving to medium roast in the next day or so and will then grind finer and get further into this profile. Thanks for that, great to start exploring now. Meldrew hope you’re enjoying it now and getting used to the screen?

Last night it must have taken me 15 minutes to access the advanced settings - where you have to hold a certain area for ten secs and it must be in the ‘off’ status. So I was holding it for ten nothing happens move the thumb slightly hold for ten nothing happens and on and on! Eventually it worked and I forgot about it. Just now I must have spent about ten minutes just trying to access a profile.I copped something - it seems to react much better if you use the whole width of your thumb not at an angle, or part of your thumb and probably won’t work with a different finger. Cover the whole square of the option you’d want to access if you like. Try it consciously and see if it helps
JahLaza it’s not just me then lol. Am enjoying it and just about to try profile 1 again. I must admit it’s a lovely looking unit. Have been out all morning at a lovely place Rievoulx Abbey and just got back. We only live about four miles away so handy to just pop down and have a wander, even better we don’t have to pay as my wife holds a cssc card which cost £5 a month and gives us access to different places. .
JahLaza i wanted to say that this is what I noticed as well. Use whole width of the finger and best to use your thumb .
I am getting along well and can’t complain about the screen. It won’t react occasionally but it’s a rarity

JahLaza also my understanding is to go in to advanced settings you need to keep your finger on the bottom left corner of the screen /4th square/. Just tested it on mine and it will only work on there

prezes Must admit it has improved. My concern originally came when trying to set the machine up and the lower middle position just would not respond. So I was unable to change any dates or times as I was unable to scroll forward. As you can imagine the old brain was going ten to the dozen thinking the worst. This is why I have my profile name, as if it can go wrong it will. They used to call me Jonah at work. I could walk up to a machine and it would go wrong and I had not touched it yet. I am happy and I polish this more than I have ever done with the car.And the Vesuvius is only 4 days old.
What’s the best thing for cleaning this machine? Damp cloth or do you use a particular polish?
thewelshvet I use a microfibre cloth (label ripped out) and Method stainless steel cleaner. You must use a completely non-abrasive cleaner (e.g. not Astonish, ot the marks will astonish you!!)
You can also use detergent in water on a damp cloth to remove coffee marks/splashes and then Isopropyl Alchohol to finish with a Microfibre buff..
Thanks, will have a look for method SS cleaner.
We use microfibre cloths for anything that needs a delicate touch.
I could check my panel for my profile but we’ll all have our preferences and Cupra’s is a good baseline. So I was just going to say I keep one profile for double basket (I split the shots with twin spouts but irrelevant for the profile), one for single basket and then a straight 9-bar 20-second profile for the Puly Cafe cleaning.
of course, after cleaning I invariably forget to go back to my coffee profile on first shot but that’s life.
Cuprajake It’s definitely a long learning curve. I have been trying to dial in the beans. The first attempt the pour was to quick so I slowly adjusted but then the group head gauge went to 12 bar and virtually stayed there and did not drop with the screen pressure so I changed the grind which ended up to fast. I then checked my tamping pressure which seems ok. I have changed the pump acceleration from 400 to 220 as Dave mentioned which helped with the pump and the pressure was more to the screen setting. The coffee was still bitter so I have more experimenting to do. The screen seems better which is good and I have sent Paolo a email to let him know. I think that I may need to buy some larger quantities of beans.. I am enjoying the learning though. I might do some videos for reference.
Meldrew Avoid overly long preinfusion, because then you have to grind finer and you get more of “everything”, including the bitter.
