@"Cuprajake"#p73689 A linea isn't comparable to a hybrid lever in just about everything though and while a decent is super programmable, it offers the polar opposite in philosophy to a lever. The closest parallel is the evo which is also a hybrid lever but even the evo is quite different in its workflow and UI. I dont know who this seller is and i have no connection with the seller but the price of this unit seems to be about GBP1300 or thereabouts cheaper than a new nurri that has comparable specs? If so that is almost 30 per cent less than a new one so it doesn't seem too bad a deal if ut is still in good condition.

@"Jason1wood"#p73688 Begore i replaced it with a nurri a couple of years ago, I bought an izzo lever many years sight unseen without ever having actually used a lever before in person but from the get go, it was easy and straight forward to use. Having used levers, pump machines have had very little appeal to me ever since. So dont worry about never having used levers before, you should take to it like a duck to water. Despite its many capabilities, the nurri is at the heart of it still a spring lever machine with all the simplicity that entails, and eveb it's advanced functions are intuitive to use.

Just pointing out you can buy various brand new machines for the price of that used nurri Wasn't comparing any of them

If I want a used lever, I will look around for a used Evo 1. Terrific value for money as you may get it at a bit less than a half of that listed price. If new, I will get a Vostok or a Decent or an LM, if budget is not an issue. I have an Evo 1.

Yeah off the Davids at the weekend to have my first go at a lever, looking forward to it.

Depends on what machine I get and how much it costs, hopefully will be pairing with a Philos and moving on my beautiful Mythos as do defo need single dosing. That’s my choice of grinder so no need to go down that rabbit hole 🤣🤣🤣

people generally recommend what they have,

dpends on budget, up to 2k the bianca is the best bang for buck,

id recommend a used evo 1 - not a new evo2 but be prepared to repair it yourself,

once budget goes higher, then you have way more options and you need to consider whats important for you, they all make good coffee….

thats my bit.

HarveyMushman Someone posted a vid here a while back showing a transparent case version and it looked great.

I am a big fan of the transparent case option… the lights were easy to put in as the case just slides off.

So it’s similar to a pavoni? But with a pid?

Cuprajake No PID, just a good quality German thermostat, because the designer wanted a machine that needed little servicing or repairs. Unlike the Pavoni (which also has steam), it has an open boiler. A very simple design, for espresso purists who want a tactile experience and something that looks rather unique. It takes some practice to build up consistency, so it’s not something I’d recommend to most people.

i mean being a purist, who need a temp gauge, pressure gauge room to fit a scale, just push your arm down jobs a goodun,

id say more pretentious then purist but each to their own.

Yes, Im well aware it won’t appeal to many people. But it produces drinks that wow me, despite being so minimalist, even in the company of the highly-configurable Decent DE1. That’s enough for me to move the Decent on.

Worthy of note is that even Decent recognizes the fill rate of the DE1 is a limitation for puck compression, and is consequently introducing a new vibe pump setup on the Bengle that moves the max out to 12ml/s, later to be followed by a rotary pump that goes out to the 20ml/s range, alike the well-regarded 58mm machines.

Adrianmsmith one of the things I love about the smaller groups is their ability to deliver texture and body, in spades:

That kind of shot needs a massive dose on a 58mm group, and a fast puck compression to avoid having to grind very fine and introduce bitterness into the shot.
